Black Silicon Carbide

Black Silicon Carbide(SiC) is the product of silicon quartz sand and petroleum coke electro fused at high temperature in an electrical resistance furnace. The grains of Black Silicon Carbide are hexagonal crystals that are extremely hard, sharp, friable, and high strength(at 1000℃, SiC is 7.5 stronger than Al2O3), and have outstanding electrical and thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion. 

Advantages of Black Silicon Carbide in Sandblasting Applications
1. Ultra-high hardness, high-efficiency cutting: it can quickly strip the oxidized layer, burrs or old coatings on the surface of metal, ceramics, glass and other substrates, with a higher efficiency than that of traditional abrasives such as quartz sand and brown corundum, which significantly shortens the working hours.
2. Sharp edges, even roughness: the particles have natural sharp broken edges, which can form even and delicate surface texture after sandblasting and enhance the coating adhesion, especially suitable for anti-corrosion spraying pretreatment in the fields of automobile, shipbuilding, aerospace and so on.
3. High temperature and oxidation resistance, strong stability: it is not easy to be broken or pulverized during high-pressure sand blasting, and can be reused to reduce the cost of consumables; and high chemical inertness, does not contaminate the surface of the workpiece, suitable for stainless steel, titanium alloys, and other precision parts of the cleaning process.

Application

1. Bonded Abrasives: It is an ideal materials for Vitrified Grinding Wheels, Resin Grinding Wheels, Brake Pads/ Block, Frankfurt, Marble Polishing Stones, Oil Stones, Mounted Stones, Polishing Sticks.
2. Coated Abrasives: It is used to make coated abrasive products, such as sandpaper and are available in sheets, discs, rolls, belts, pads wheels and other forms.
3. Sandblasting / Polishing / Lapping: It is useful for grinding glass, removing mill scales and any other application where aggressive abrasives are required.
4. Refractories: furnace and incinerator linings, kiln furniture, fire bricks, refractory cement, electric heating elements, etc.
5. Anti Slip Pavement: Black Silicon Carbide can be used in the surface of out door pavement, which are heavily trafficked area that must provide traction or stand up to heavy wear, environmental stresses, weathering and slip resistance. Such as deck of the ship, highway speed bumps, airport runway.

6. Metallurgical: Steel plants use silicon carbide as an additive to molten metal to act as a source of carbide and silicon.

7. Wire Sawing: Precise silicon carbide powders are used in the cutting of silicon wafers. Silicon carbide is an excellent material for wire sawing silicon ingots into wafers for photovoltaic and semiconductor applications. 

8. Ceramic: High density and low porosity features make silicon carbide for high performance application, such as advanced or technical ceramic.
