Black Silicon Carbide

Black Silicon Carbide, also known as carborundum (BSiC),  is produced by smelting quartz sand and petroleum coke at high temperatures in an electric resistance furnace. 

The grains of Black Silicon Carbide are hexagonal crystals that are extremely hard, sharp, friable, and high strength(at 1000℃, SiC is 7.5 stronger than Al2O3), and have outstanding electrical and thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion. 

Black Silicon Carbide has a wide range of applications. In the field of abrasives, metallurgy, wire sawing, refractory materials, sandblasting, polishing, and lapping operations.

With the continuous development of new material technologies, the performance optimization and application expansion of black silicon carbide are ongoing.
