Product Description

Steel Shot & Steel Grit

Steel Shot is used in shot peening and blasting processes under compressed air pressure. It is basically used for non-ferrous metals, such as aluminium, zinc alloys, stainless steel, bronze, brass, copper, etc

It has a wide range of grades and is used for cleaning, deburring, compacting, shot peening and general finishing processes of various parts. Its surface will not be contaminated by ferrous dust, which can deteriorate and change the color of the treated metal. Used for the aging process of marble and granite.

Steel Grit is produced by crushing heat-treated steel shot into angular shapes. The performance of Steel Grit depends on its hardness, which can be modified by heat treatment and is reflected in different grades offered. Steel Grit is commonly used for cleaning surfaces prior to coating.

GP 40-50 HRC: This abrasive, which is angular when new, rapidly becomes rounded in use, giving a better performance in certain cases such as descaling, with little or no variation in maintenance costs compared to steel shot. 
GL 50-55 HRC: Although harder than GP Steel Grit, GL also loses its sharp edges during shot blasting and is particularly suited to heavy descaling and surface preparation requirements. GL steel grit cleans rapidly to give a clean finish to allsurfaces. 
GH 55-60HRC: Having maximum hardness, GH remains angular in its operating mix. This steel grit does not shatter readily, yet has a fast, effective cutting action, making it ideal for deep descaling and etched surface requirements.

Application

Steel Shot and Steel Grit are mainly used as metal surface treatment materials in industries such as casting, steel structure, machinery manufacturing, and bridge construction. They are used for surface rust removal, descaling, roughening, and strengthening by shot blasting or sand blasting to improve the adhesion of the coating or the appearance of the workpiece.

Steel Shot: 

Spherical in shape, moderate in hardness, uniform in impact force, mainly used for surface blasting, less damage to the workpiece surface, suitable for workpieces that require surface finish and uniformity. 
Steel Grit:
Irregular in shape, high in hardness, strong in removal ability, mainly used for surface blasting, can quickly remove scale and rust, suitable for workpieces that need to quickly remove surface defects.
