Sodium Hexametaphosphate (SHMP) is a white crystalline powder. It has strong chelating and dispersing properties, capable of softening hard water and stabilizing systems. In food industry, it acts as emulsifier and preservative for meat products and beverages. Industrially, it's used in water treatment, detergents, and ceramic processing.

Application

• SHMP  is used as a water softener, detergent, preservative, cement hardening accelerator, fiber and dyeing cleaning agent, and is also applied in medicine, food, petroleum, dyeing and printing, tanning, papermaking, etc.

• As a quality improver, it can increase the complex metal ions, pH value and ionic strength of food, thereby improving the adhesion and water-holding capacity of food. In China, it is stipulated that it can be used in dairy products, poultry meat products, ice cream, instant noodles and meat products, with a maximum usage of 5.0g/kg. The maximum usage in canned goods, fruit juice (flavored) beverages and plant protein beverages is 1.0g/kg.
